CRAZY IVAN WITH JOHNNY COLLA AT WAY OUT WEST RECORDING

IvanWayOutWest

Crazy Ivan recorded at Way Out West Recording in San Rafael. This studio is owned and operated by Johnny Colla. Johnny plays sax, guitar, sings, and has written or co-written many of Huey Lewis and the News's hit songs. This small, but very comfortable studio boasts some excellent analog recording equipment. Just the stuff Crazy Ivan needed to make their record. In addition, it has one of the most comfortable couches in any recording studio, surrounded by an impressive collection of gold and platinum. Way Out West has the feel of a boys' club, but the gear of a professional studio, not to mention a close proximity to Eduardo's (a great place to eat).

Crazy Ivan was assisted with production, engineering, and mixing by "Captain" Jon Mulvey, studio manager at Way Out West. Jon came with the studio, and we couldn't have been in better hands. We were his 11th recording project of the year, and by his own admission, "the best". He really helped us realize our dream. Along with being a great engineer and producer, he provided Greg with some killer guitar gear, including the now mythical Marshall JCM-2000 Crunch Machine, a 4x12 speaker cabinet that once belonged to Jimi Hendrix, and Carlos Santana's Budda amp.(don't tell Carlos)
